The prevalence of canine allergies is escalating, with the number of diagnoses increasing by 90 percent over the last seven years. Today, about one in ten dogs will develop allergies. Among high-risk breeds, leading veterinarians estimate that between 35 and 50 percent develop allergies.

Allergy not only reduces the quality of life for both dog and owner, the need of lifelong treatment is also connected to high costs. Leading veterinarians estimates additional costs of owning an allergic dog exceeding 6.000 euro over the lifetime of the dog.
